Privacy Policy — Trade Counselor

This is the straightforward version of our privacy policy. No walls of legalese — just who we are, what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Trade Counselor is a trade journaling application for active day traders, built and operated by Trade Counselor LLC, 215 Central Ave Apt 3A, St Petersburg, FL 33701, United States. You can reach us anytime at support@tradecounselor.com.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we store your email address for authentication and account communication.
Journal data. When you use the app, we store the trade journal data you enter — trade descriptions, tags, performance figures, and timestamps — plus your name, your onboarding answers, your conversations with Trade Counselor's AI and the notes it keeps from them, and basic usage records.
Phone number (optional). If you enable the optional SMS Copilot feature, we also store the phone number you link and verify.

If you connect a brokerage, we import your trades from it with your permission. We don't buy data about you from anyone, and we use no advertising trackers.

How we use your phone number

If you link your phone number for SMS Copilot, it's used only to verify your number, confirm your opt-in, and reply to the texts you send us. We never call you. Apart from the verification code and the opt-in confirmation you ask for, we only text in reply to you. Your number goes only to Twilio, which delivers our texts — never to anyone for marketing. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your conversations — you're always the one initiating.

We do not share, sell, or distribute your phone number or mobile opt-in data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

How your data is processed

AI processing, not AI training. When you describe a trade, your text is sent to AI language models to structure it into your journal and generate insights for you. We don't attach your name, email or account details. Our AI providers' business terms bar them from training on your inputs. They keep them only briefly — at most 55 days — to screen for abuse, then delete them.

Encryption. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).

We never sell your data

Your trade data, strategies, phone number, mobile opt-in data, conversations, and personal information are never sold, rented, or shared for marketing or advertising. They go only to the services that run Trade Counselor, and only so those services can run it. Our business model is subscriptions — your data is not our product.

Your control over your data

Export your data. You can download your trades and setups anytime as a spreadsheet (CSV) from your Account Settings. For a full copy of everything else, email us. You're never locked in.
Delete your account. You can delete your account at any time. When you do, your profile, trade history, conversation logs, phone number, and analysis results are deleted from the live system right away. Basic usage records are kept with your identity removed. Our encrypted backups roll off within 8 days, and any copy an AI provider kept to screen for abuse is deleted on its own schedule (at most 55 days).
